Vidar – The Silent Spirit of The North
Friday 4 September 7.30pm - 9pm
with Steffen Hartmann
Talk with piano performance
Vidar, perhaps the most enigmatic of the Norse Gods, known as the silent spirit, and perhaps more a future god than his better known colleagues, is in the ascendant. He is destined to play an important role at Ragnarok, killing the wolf Fenris, one of the offspring of Loki (Lucifer), with a shoe he has sewn from small pieces of leather discarded by others. Rather than living in a palace Vidar dwells in Vidi, a vast land of water and wind, and is the guardian of pristine nature. As well, in more contemporary language, Vidar works with both Christ and Michael.
Steffen has studied Vidar for many years, and in 2019 published Creating the Future with Vidar, (only available in German) co-authored with Volker Fintelmann.
