Dimensions of the Sense of Self (I – Presence)
Thursday 17 September 7pm - 8.30pm
with Inessa Burdich
Talk
In the course of our individual spiritual journey, we repeatedly encounter the fundamental question: Who am I? The mystery of the “I” is perhaps the greatest enigma of human existence. The I is rooted in eternity and incarnates through our lower bodies, gradually revealing itself within earthly life.
This talk will explore several interconnected questions:
- How can we approach the mystery of the “I” — the sense of Self, also referred to as the I-presence or the I-bearer?
- How do the qualities of our I-presence change throughout the different stages of life?
- What challenges arise in relation to a weakened I-presence?
- How can the I-presence be consciously strengthened?
Strengthening the I-presence is considered a powerful remedy for many mental disorders and other health conditions. It forms the foundation of all genuine spiritual work. The talk will examine practical aspects of the harmonious development of the I-presence, as well as the relationship between I-presence and specific health conditions, including hypersensitivity as an example. We will explore the genesis of hypersensitivity and consider ways of building personal resilience in order to overcome it.
Followed by a 1-day workshop on the same topic on Sunday 20th September at RSH: https://rsh.anth.org.uk/event/how-can-i-become-aware-of-the-srength-of-my-i/
