These Munich lectures on Initiation complement certain themes in A Road to Self Knowledge, published by Dr Steiner at the same time, in August of 1912. This book is a series of eight meditations and from their themes, the lectures consider aspects of the Physical, Etheric and Astral Bodies, and The Guardian of the Threshold. Dr Steiner points out that ‘because progressive, divine beings and Luciferic beings are present in the higher worlds, their relation to one another is reflected in the antithesis of Time and Eternity’; and, in addition, that ‘there could be no more cherished companion than Ahriman for those who wish to preserve for Eternity each Passing Moment’.
