Art and the Imagination

Friday 5 November 7.30pm - 8.45pm

with David Lowe

Changes in imagination can be seen reflected in art. We will look at slides of works from Egyptian and Greek times; then on through medieval art to Giotto and the artists of the early 1400s in Italy. In central Europe in the paintings of Bosch, Grünewald and others a different kind of imagination meets us. Through looking at the art we can begin to understand how different the imagination was before we began to look at the world in a radically different way after 1400.

David is a researcher into the spiritual impulses in cultural evolution who has lectured in different parts of the UK as well as many different countries.
